ОтветитьУдалитьThe way I see the main idea of this song arrive in that conclusion, that the pearson always should be the pearson, to my mind the "personality" must be reliable, sympathetic,maybe,sometimes a little bit shy. And always be considerate to others, because in future you can suffer from your own actions.
As for me, I've never heard neither this song nor this singer. But, I like it. Light song, you can't be tired of it. There is very deep sense in the lyrics of this song. I can't really catch it. There are lots of beautiful metaphors and epithets, which can be understood in different ways.
ОтветитьУдалитьMy opinion, is that he is a great dreamer. He doesn't want to be a king of some real country or city. He wants to have his own little city in his mind. And he has it. It's the place, where he can shelter from some troubles or problems of his real life.

I'm not a fan of Tom Petty, But song is wonderful. Generally, melody and sense make any song good. While about the text, I would argue-be king is not particularly well .)))))) author songs just do not know the real life which was with the Kings. In fairy tales, all painted with bright colors and has a happy-end ... But it would be better sometimes he opened a history book)

Personally I have never heard about this singer, but when I listened to this song, I really liked it! In my opinion, it reflects the idea that each and everyone has his own dreams, which he or she would eagerly come true. I am sure that every person has some place in his mind( as the song says), where these dreams are a reality. So, it's natural and even necessary for people to go to that place and just dream!

In my opinion the main idea of this song is that we should dream even if it's sometimes hard or boring. Every person has his own dreams and feelings... Sometimes they're unrealizable but nevertheless they are and probably it's the main thing !

I can feel my hands shake when I hear these words...pure brilliance, song, melody, words, everything. I thank Tom Petty for his gift he was given all of us within his music.

And if you will be a good and a fair person then you can make a lot of friends and according to your actions people will or won't love you.
I can suppose,that the singer wants everybody to become kings of their own dreams!Of course,it is reality,everybody "has some place in his mind,where he goes time to time".

I cannot but enjoy the song as it is lyrical and a bit naive. Besides, there is one of Tom Petty's hits 'Last Dance with Mary Jane' which deserves some attention, I suppose, as it is a marvelous American rock'n'roll song.

Actually, I agree with Nora. In our tough world, the only place were we could be "kings" is our imagination. But it is also true that some people don't differ dreams and reality and try to be kings in ordinary life. Such people annoy me very much. All in all there is nothing bad in dreams.Personally I'm not fond of dreaming, because I'm too realistic. Unfortunatly, I can't imagine myself a king. My dreams can become reality, so they are quite simpe.

We feel safety in our dreams, being their kings and queens. I suppose, everybody has to have their own place where they can feel protected from things around, and, I'm sure, everybody dreams to feel a little piece of happiness and calm.

ОтветитьУдалитьI'm kind of disagree with a words:"It's good to be king". To be the king it's always the great responsibility and no time for yourself. For a while it is, or for a long time, in a big city or a small town. If you are king there is not such thing as "own way" or "own world". There is no need to be king, if you want to find a girl, or make friends. In the lyrics, escaping from reality is normal and even good. No! It is not. I know from my own experience, how people, who have some problems in real world, who feel lonely try to find their happiness in some unreal world. Don't let this people go, ever! You might lose them. You want to be a king, whatever it pays? First try to become someone in real world, and then you may dream about your own kingdom, if there will be such a necessity.

And I strongly believe, that the main idea of the song is that everybody should have their chance to be a king for at least one day!Because it's very important for people to know that somebody needs you!
And from my point of view singer urges us to be a king...may be not of some real town, but of our own life!

In my opinion, the main idea of the song is that we should dream and not be afraid of dreaming as it helps us to live and to go ahead. In fact , everyone has his own world where he can wander through his thoughts and imagination forgetting about all problems. He can do there everything beacause he's the King there as well as the King of his own life that is real. We should keep in mind it.
