  1. Oh, Harper Lee's novel is in the center of the list)) I have read 'To Kill a Mockingbird' in the original some time ago. and it is nice that this talented author is among some great classical literary works.
Well, I suspect that it would be rather interesting to compare this list, based on the UK's most borrowed library books, with the one from our country. I guess, some of the titles will be the same.

  2. I have read "Crime and Punishment".
This roman has a very deep, psychological idea.
The hero of the roman( Rodion Roskolnikov) has made many terrible crimes. But every person must pay for its crime, whatever if it is a little or a big crime. Our hero killed the host of the house, where he had lived and her sister and also stole the host`s money. I think that mental healthy people cant do such teriible crimes.Rodion Roskolnikov wasnt a "lost" person, because the conscience tortured him and Admitted in commission of crime.
The difficult, vital sutiation has made oppressing impression upon me, thats why i couldn`t perceive this novel till the end. Maybe I should read it later to understand it, when I`ll be a bit elder.

  4. I've read Pride and Prejudice. To tell the truth a don't really enjoy it. I don't like romantic stories at all, but this one is quite nice. To my mind there is nothing spesial in it, an ordinary story about a man and a woman, who fell in love with each other, then as usually they need to overcome a lot of difficulties, but eventually, they get merried. There are millions of this type of stories and I don't relly understand why this one is so popular. Perhaps I understand nothing in love stories.

  5. This is the list of books which I have already read:"The old man and the sea","The Master and Margarita","War and Peace","Twilight","The Cronicles of Narnia","Pride and Prejudice","Crime and Punishment" and "Anna Karenina".

My favourite books are "War and Peace" and "Pride and Prejudice". I think that in the first book author wanted to tell us that every person has his own way and during it we must learn to love people and to love everything around you and when we achieve this we finish our life and leave this earth. And I think such person was Andrey Balkonskiy.

What can I say about the second book? I think that it's very interesting to know everything about people who lived a long time ago and about their habits, their opinion about love and art and of course it's exciting to watch the relations between them. I think that reading such kind of books we can learn something about life and about important things for us because sometimes the young forget about such things as honour, pride and dignity.

  6. I have read half of the books in this list. I like the work of Tolkien and Carroll. One must be really great people to come up with their own world and even have time to deal with science and at the same time. In Tolkien's really written a bit stiffly, but require a larger of Professor would be silly.)
Really like "Lolita. " Autobiographical stories are always interesting

  7. Well, I have already read "The Master and Margarita", "The Cronicles of Narnia", "War and Peace", "Anna Karenina", "The Advantures of Huckleberry Finn" and "Crime and Punishment".
My favourite novel is the last one.
Crime and Punishment is by truth the best book ever written. It talks about Raskolnikov, a foreign student troubled by money woes who commits a heinous crime. Then he gets sick of himself and has all of that guilt in his heart and can't let go of it.
This is a work which analyses not only the mind of an young man but a whole community. I was deeply affected by the chapter where Raskolnikolf opens his heart to Soniya.

  8. I have already read such books as "Jane Eyre", "War and peace", "Devid Copperfield", "The Master and Margarita", "The Old Man and the Sea" and the half of the list, I may say, I've watched on TV.
But some words I should say about my favourite book - it is "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Brontë. I'm really keen on it. The novel tell us about the orphan Jane that have to live in asylum instead of live with her hateful relatives that have never loved her. It is a very touching story with happy end. The one that I like indeed.

I was pretty impressed. The language it's written is stunning and beatiful. This book is really worth of reading. Also I'm reading "Fahrenheit 451" now. It's quite unusual for me beacuse I'm not keen on fantasy very much. Nevertheless, I try to read different books.

  10. I've read all seven fantasy novels about Harry Potter written by the British author J.K.Rowling.
I heard about this book when I was 10 and I was realy into reading it. This story is really fantastic and interesting, especially for kids. The plot is very saturated and has a huge variety of its attainments. As for me it's more exciting to read a book than to watch a movie.

  12. I have already read such books of this list as:"War and peace", "The Master and Margarita", "The Old Man and the Sea", " Rebecca" "The little prince" and " The Picture of Dorian Gray " and a lot of them I've watched on TV. My favourite book from this list " The Picture of Dorian Gray "
This is a very interesting book with a very interesting plot. The novel tells of a young man named Dorian Gray, the subject of a painting by artist Basil Hallward. Basil is impressed by Dorian's beauty and becomes infatuated with him, believing his beauty is responsible for a new mode in his art. Dorian meets Lord Henry Wotton, a friend of Basil's, and becomes enthralled by Lord Henry's world view. Espousing a new hedonism, Lord Henry suggests the only things worth pursuing in life are beauty and fulfillment of the senses. Realizing that one day his beauty will fade, Dorian (whimsically) expresses a desire to sell his soul to ensure the portrait Basil has painted would age rather than himself. Dorian's wish is fulfilled, plunging him into debauched acts. The portrait serves as a reminder of the effect each act has upon his soul, with each sin displayed as a disfigurement of his form, or through a sign of aging
There are a lot of interesting and deep thoughts and aphorisms. One of my favorite words from this book are: " Women are decorative, but never genius. Theey never have anything to say, but they say it beautifully "

  14. Among this list of books,"Sense and sensibility" by Jane Austen is my favourite one!Young women who have no economic or political power must attend to the serious business of contriving material security. Jane Austen's sardonic humour lays bare the stratagems, the hypocrisy and the poignancy inherent in the struggles of two very different sisters to achieve respectability. It is still worth-reading!

  15. As I can see from the list, it has gathered a great variety of widely read and well-known books from all over the world. As for me, Louisa May Alcott's novel "Little women" is on top of the list. First of all, the prolific writer brought to life a vivid observation of New England in the nineteenth century. The plot is based on Louisa's personal life and experience. I love the way she describes the four young girls, their ambitions and desires. With every chapter I feel the atmosphere of England at that period of time. It is very absorbing and definitely worth reading! Now I am reading "The time traveler's wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. I find this book extremely interesting. The style of writing and the morality of the story strikes me! I read every page in a burst of inspiration!

  16. There is no doubt that it’s a wonderful collection of books for different interests!
I’d like to say a few words about one of my favorite books of this list.
It is “The Old Man and the Sea” by Ernest Hemingway. It is one of the most charming books I’ve ever read. This true masterpiece is a multifaceted story about the resistance of an old fisherman and the sea. The old man represents the human race and the sea represents nature.
What I like most about the story is its simplicity. I think this is one of the reasons why it has become so successful and word famous. Hemingway doesn’t try to impress the reader with an artificial, complicated and unrealistic story. It is the fact that every word of the story is essential and none is superfluous or meaningless. That's why, I suppose the novella is so beautiful and unique within the literary world. It is really worth reading!

  17. all the books i've read from this list are mostly marked with small print.
i've recently finished reading "The name of the rose". under the impression of this book i've also watched the film where Sean Connery is starring. Umberto Eco is a great writer. i think. it's more than simple historical detective story. it is full of philosophical
    sense.
as for me it's the worthy reading

  18. I also read lots of books from this list. And they are all worthy of attention. But most of all I would like to say a few words about one of them. It is the world bestseller of Dan Brown "The Da Vinci Code". After reading this book I was impressed! This is a terrific book!
It is such a clever book. So it makes its way into my favorite books list. I think the way Dan Brown wrote it made it very easy to read. What seemed to happen was that the chapters were very short but always had a hook at the end of them that made me want to read on.
So I'd decide to read a couple of chapters, and two hours later I'd find myself half-way through the book. The book raises a lot of questions, and after reading it, when I mentioned it to friends who had read it, it always sparked debate.
I think you have to have quite an open mind religiously to read it, and I feel some people might be offended by the fact it is casting doubt on lots of things that are seen as truths within Christianity. Other than that, I think anybody could read it.
